J. K. Rowling Seeks to Reward Civil Servant With a Year’s Salary for Calling Out Boris Johnson

The ‘Harry Potter’ author has also personally attacked the U.K. Prime Minister for standing by Dominic Cummings who has defied the government’s own advice to stay at home amid the COVID-19 crisis.

AceShowbiz -J. K. Rowling has offered to cover a U.K. Civil Service employee’s salary for a year after he or she attacked the government for backing Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s chief advisor for making a trip across the country to visit his parents.

While most of the nation is on lockdown, Dominic Cummings drove from London to Durham and back, ignoring the government’s own advice to stay at home.

Johnson has since defended his sidekick, insisting Cummings had to organize urgent childcare as his wife battled COVID-19.

A colleague jumped on the backlash against the civil servant, posting a now-deleted tweet, which read, “Arrogant and offensive. Can you imagine having to work with these truth twisters?”

Confirming the note had been taken down, a Cabinet Office member tweeted, “An unauthorised tweet was posted on a government channel this evening. The post has been removed and we are investigating the matter.”

The “Harry Potter” author, who previously slammed Cummings’ “indefensible hypocrisy,” is now keen to track down the tweeter, so she can reward him or her for taking a stand.

In her own tweet to the Civil Service, Rowling writes, “When you find out who it was, let us know. I want to give them a year’s salary.”

J. K. Rowling searched for the civil servant attacking U.K. government’s arrogance.

She also attacked the Prime Minister directly for standing by his man, “Single parents have been on lockdown for weeks. Nurses have isolated from their own families to protect them. I can’t remember a clearer demonstration of contempt for the people from a sitting Prime Minister. Johnson might as well have shambled into shot, given us all the finger and walked off again.”

J. K. Rowling called out Boris Johnson for backing Dominic Cummings

“Many have had to look after their own young children while ill. One of the architects of the rules keeping those people housebound drove across the UK, knowing he had the virus. Indefensible hypocrisy and selfishness.”

J. K. Rowling continued expressing her anger at the government’s hypocrisy

Meanwhile, fans of Welsh band Super Furry Animals have launched a campaign to get the group’s 1996 track “The Man Don’t Give a F**k” back in the charts as a protest against Cummings’ actions.

Gunna Drips By With a Little Help From His Friends on 'Wunna'

Is Gunna a rapper or an Avenger? On Spotify’s amazing poster promoting his new album Wunna, a computerized Gunna stands in reverse-V formation with his musical godfather Young Thug and the album’s principal producers: Wheezy, Turbo, Taurus, and Aviator Keyz. They all wear matching iridescent black vinyl bodysuits. A burning meteor streaks through the background. WUNNA: THE AGE OF YSL, the poster declares. It’s a fitting visual metaphor for the album, which stands among Gunna’s best releases to date. On Wunna, the talent that resides in and orbits around YSL Records (Thug’s label imprint) brings out the best in Gunna.

Wunna is an astrology-themed album about the life and times of Gunna’s half-assed alter ego, Wunna. Gunna is Wunna; Wunna is Gunna. As the delightful backronym “Wealthy Unapologetic Nigga Naturally Authentic” and the Wunnascope encouraging Geminis to “drip offensively” both suggest, Wunna doesn’t unveil a yet unknown side of Gunna, but rather the wealthy superstar he has become. Private jets to Maui, women lined up to take him to bed, $150 thousand per show, custom VLONE. Despite the fervor of Gunna’s flexing, there is peace in his warm, groggy, melodic murmur, which always makes it sound as though he’s just woken up from a refreshing afternoon nap. On both “Addys” and the title track, he retools OT Genasis’ “Cut It” flow to make it glide. While some of his writing is of the Fisher-Price variety—one verse in “Met Gala” employs a AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA rhyme scheme—and his lyrics aren’t always well thought out (“Say the wrong word, and I’mma shoot him in his shit”), Wunna remains a transportive listening experience, due in large part to its production, which exists in almost perfect harmony with Gunna’s soothing vocals.

The beats on Wunna underscore the envious extravagance and comfort of Gunna’s lifestyle. Many of these beats recall the restraint, buoyancy, and soft edges of Young Thug’s Barter 6. It is the production, rather than Gunna, that dictates the album’s mood swings, which appear almost as seasonal fluctuations. The weightless single “Skybox,” produced by Taurus, evokes springtime with synths that flit like hummingbirds. “I’m On Some,” produced by Wheezy and Turbo, is spare, cavernous, and unhurried in a way that evokes wintertime stillness. “Argentina” and “Met Gala,” both produced by Wheezy (who notched 10 production credits on Wunna), evoke a languid, endless summer.

Most of Gunna’s signature moments have been collaborations. “Sold Out Dates” and Drip Harder made him and Lil Baby into bigger stars, and Thug’s presence has yielded some of his finest moments and biggest hits (“3 Headed Snake,” “Surf,” “Hot”). Unsurprisingly, Thug’s two features on Wunna coincide with two of the album’s standouts, “Dollaz On My Head” and “Far.” On “Far,” the satisfying victory lap that closes out the album, Thug doubles Gunna on the chorus, and they wistfully sing together, remembering friends dead or in jail and appreciating how far they’ve come. Whether Gunna is probing these arrestingly weighty moments or singing about Eliantte diamonds and boat sex, Thug and the Wunna production braintrust never once let him down.

There is a girl I really like. She is 21. We text each other occasionally and her texts and photos make me laugh, but I’d like more – something romantic, to be honest.

I don’t want to spoil things. If I tell her, would this be a push too far? She’s told me she lost her dad last year. Am I just a father figure to her? Should I accept we’ll only ever be mates?

DEIDRE SAYS: Doing that would be best. Age isn’t everything but a 34-year gap is pretty significant.

If you suggest you’d like more it could make her feel uncomfortable and make you look predatory. It would be a shame to lose the lovely atmosphere between you.

Emmerdale returns to filming after shutting down during pandemic – The Sun

EMMERDALE has already returned to filming after shutting down production over the pandemic.

The soaps production team have commenced a phased return to filming by recording six new episodes featuring characters during the lockdown.

However it will not be a return to normal with the first six episodes shot featuring only two or three characters.

Filming was underway yesterday (Wednesday 20 May) at Emmerdale’s studios in Leeds involving a pared back crew to ensure health and safety protocols and social distancing measures are strictly adhered to by the team on set. The six episodes will be recorded over a two week filming period.

New ways of working to protect the crew and cast have been introduced by ITV Studios in accordance with pan-industry return-to- production protocols for TV drama which ITV’s Health and Safety team and medical advisers have been working on in consultation with the Government.

The guidelines underpin everything ITV Studios are putting in place for the cast, crew and production team to adhere to whilst filming.

The measures will include social distancing, filming units staying together to work in designated studios with crew using their own sanitised equipment, office staff continuing to work from home to ensure fewer people on the ground, no location filming, scripts featuring a smaller number of actors and fewer scenes to avoid camera moves.

The crew have also attended a meeting with the company’s medical adviser and participated in a health and safety induction which saw the new working environment procedures explained in detail.

The new episodes will ensure Emmerdale stays on air in June bringing the audience topical stories from much loved characters.

Inevitably, with time on their hands the characters will begin to think about what’s important in life.

We’ll see resentments and past feuds resurface, old wounds further exposed, relationships scrutinised, with doubts and insecurities laid bare.

Some seize the opportunity lockdown presents to heal divisions, whilst others get some sizzle back into their lives!

With the backdrop of the pandemic, the characters also reflect the nation’s immense gratitude and thanks for the NHS with the weekly clap for carers and the people working on the frontline keeping our country safe.

The six new episodes – Cain and Aaron, Chas and Paddy, Sam and Lydia, Marlon, Al and Ellis, Mandy and Vinny and Jimmy and Nicola – will be recorded over a two week period and directed by Ian Bevitt.

Andrew Lloyd Webber musical streaming: Why is there no musical streaming this week?

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musicals are incredibly famous, and every week he has been sharing them with fans. In a deal with Universal, every week one of his musicals is broadcast on YouTube, and some fan favourites have been released. Now, however, there is not a new musical coming out, and fans are wondering why.

Why is there no Andrew Lloyd Webber musical coming out this week?

Speaking on his Twitter, the composer revealed why there is no show coming out this week.

In a video, speaking to fans, he said: “Well, there you go.

“That’s the last one of the six from stage to screen. I hope you enjoyed that one, it’s Cats of course.

“Thank you for so generously donating. I think we raised $500,000 [£408,422.50] for The Actors Fund.

“Absolutely wonderful and if you could still find it in you to give a little, tiny bit more it’d be really appreciated by all of the actors who, of course, are having a very tough time at the moment.”

It seems, from Lloyd Webber’s comments, the channel will no longer be releasing his shows, and that means the end of the Friday night musical.

However, his following comments could give fans hope that a new set of musicals will come to the screen – even his new Cinderella musical which is yet to be revealed.

  • Test out these musicals and plays quiz questions & answers

He continued: “I hope you realise that theatre is always going to be there. It will come back.

“I must say I thought I’d run out of ideas for what to do as a composer in lockdown, I didn’t think we were going to be locked down for so long.

“I’m afraid it might be a bit longer yet but you can’t get rid of me. That’s just bad luck, I shall be back doing various things.

“Maybe I’ll, you know, do a little bit of Cinderella. You never know I might pluck up the courage and everything.

“But I just really want to thank you for being so good to watch all of these. Particularly those of you who stayed through By Jeeves. Slow start I know but you’re the really hardcore.

“But anyway this was a great joy for me to see again, I haven’t seen it for so long. I’m gonna say goodbye, give generously and thank you.”

While he is saying goodbye, he is promising his return and teased he may even play some of his new musical, Cinderella, which is yet to be debuted.

Clearly, fans will be salivating at the idea of a sneak preview from Cinderella, or further musicals online.

However, we will have to wait and see on whether Lloyd Webber will give us what we are asking for.

Finally, a 10-Pack of Protective Face Masks You Won’t Hate Wearing

Us Weekly has affiliate partnerships so we may receive compensation for some links to products and services.

Please note: Information below is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or health condition.

Haven’t been able to find a face mask you like yet? You’re not alone. If you’ve seen someone pulling a mask below their nose, letting it hang from their ear or even completely ripping it off in public, you probably understood why. You wish everyone would just follow the guidelines, but it’s not like you’ve never been frustrated with a mask of your own!

A lot of masks are simply too thick, making it hard to breathe — especially in hot, humid weather — while others press into and pull at the skin. Others just refuse to fit right, leaving us with only our bobby pins to try and pull them tight (and you know we’re going to end up losing all of those). We need a mask that’s not only comfortable to wear for extended periods of time, but one we can reuse over and over so we don’t have to keep buying more. Even better if it comes in a pack of 10!

Get the Romantic Beauty Fashion Black Cotton Cover for Face and Mouth (10-Pack) for just $30 at Amazon with free shipping! Get it as soon as May 22, 2020! Please note, prices are accurate at the date of publication, May 18, 2020, but are subject to change.

These are the masks you’ve been waiting for. These are the masks everyone else has been waiting for too, so it’s a good thing they come in a pack of 10. Share the wealth with your family or roommates, or drop one off on a friend’s doorstep. They’ll immediately see and feel the difference, thanks to the 100% cotton fabric!

This fabric is soft and stretchy and may make it much easier to breathe than synthetic fabrics do. Because it’s cotton, it can be washed too — even in the machine! Try using a cold/delicate cycle and either line drying or tumble drying on low to avoid any shrinkage.

Another fact that we don’t want to skip over is that these masks are solid black, so anyone would be happy to wear them. No complaints of designs or colors you would never wear! It’s an excellent choice for this 10-pack, and we want to give it the recognition it deserves.

Remember to keep wearing your mask in public spaces — in addition to social-distancing — and to be careful not to touch your face while removing it. Wash your hands and stay safe!

Mama June and daughter Alana are ‘in communication’ as teen ‘rebuilds trust’ after estrangement, family therapist claims – The Sun

MAMA June is “in communication” with her daughter Alana, 14, and the rest of her family after she abandoned them to go on a drug-fueled bender with troubled boyfriend Geno Doak.

In an exclusive interview with The Sun, the family’s therapist, Dr. Ish Major, revealed the family is “rebuilding trust” with Mama June, whose real name is June Shannon, after the years-long estrangement.

June, 40, is currently living in Florida with Geno, while daughters Alana, Pumpkin, 20, and the rest of the family work on the relationship from Georgia.

Dr. Ish told The Sun: “Family gets burnt out. ‘We tried and you never got it right. We poured resources into you, time, attention and affection into you, and none of that worked.’ Family is like, 'Listen we’re done. We’re aggravated.’ It’s a very tricky way to reintroduce yourself to the family.”

Dr. Ish explained how the family is “in communication” from a distance.

He continued: “We love you, but we’re going to love you from over here. The last thing I did with Pumpkin was help her realize the boundaries. If you cannot behave in an appropriate fashion, if you cannot make decisions better for yourself and us, then you don’t get to be part of our lives.

“The only way we’re going to tell that is time. This is June earning her spot back into the family.”

Dr. Ish revealed the family has scheduled Skype calls and other planned forms of communication to see if June follows through.

He added: “They are rebuilding trust. This is what you said you are going to do, let’s see if you can do it. History says you won’t. If you do then we can take that next step. This is how you work your way back into the family and we can trust each other again.”

Dr. Ish helped with June's intervention last season and has been supporting the family through their struggles.

On recent episodes of Mama June: Family Crisis, June returned to Georgia and reached out to producers to go to rehab months after she and Geno were arrested for possession of a controlled substance – crack cocaine – and possession of drug paraphernalia – a crack pipe – in March 2019.

Their attorney entered a not guilty plea on their behalf.

But June let her family down when she did not go and instead sold all of her and her family's belongings in the home for fast cash.

Mama June’s youngest daughter Honey Boo Boo is staying with older sister, Pumpkin, whose real name is Lauryn, her husband, Josh Efird, and their 2-year-old daughter, Ella.

Although June has been working on her relationship with her family, her daughters still snubbed her for Mother’s Day.

Pumpkin wrote on Instagram on Sunday: “Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms. These two have made me a better person & helped me become a better mother. I’ll always have you two. 🤞🏼🥰 @honeybooboo."

As for Alana, she didn’t wish her mother a happy Mother’s Day.

While in Florida with Geno, June has been promoting her Cameo page, as she is charging fans $45 for personalized video messages.

She’s also promoting Payphone, where she is charging $15 per message, $30 for a 30 minute phone call and $50 for a video message.

Mama June: Family Crisis airs Fridays at 9/8c on WE tv.

Madison Prewett Responds to a Fan Who Implies She's Desperate to Be an Influencer

Signing up for The Bachelor inevitably comes with people accusing you of going on the show for the WRONG REASONS, aka trying to become The Bachelorette, or thirstily trying to become an influencer.

Whichhhhhh brings us to this TikTok from Madison Prewett, which features her and her parents doing an “I wanna be an influencer!” word jumble:

we got this one @tonyaprew @coachprew #MakeMomSmile #momsoftiktok #guess #fyp

Obviously, it took about five seconds for a fan to be all “it’s funny cause Madie [sic] wants to be an influencer,” and she went ahead and clapped back. At least, I think this is a clap back and not her actually confirming that she does, in fact, aspire to be an influencer? She’s not typically a super sarcastic person, so kinda hard to tell!

Either way, @bachelornation.scoop caught Madi replying “so bad I’m dyingggggggg to be one!!!!” which, hmmmm:

Kay, time for some stats: Madison currently has 1.9 million followers on Instagram, but to be fair she has yet to dabble in the art of sponsored content. However, that might have more to do with claims that The Bachelor changed its contracts to ensure contestants wait 3 months post-show to start shilling for FabFitFun.
